Harriett Leaves

“Hello Dr.,” thought Harriett

“I will be leaving in the morning; I am sure you are already know.

It has been nice sharing thoughts with you this summer.  Oh, and the flounder have been great.  I have put on one third of my body weight, so I should have plenty of energy for the flight.  I do not see any sign of impending storms for the next week, so I think it’s a good time to go.

I will miss you.  I will miss you badly, but I know, you know. I have to go………….  Hey, that rhymes!

Star and Joe Buck Jr. have achieved independence.  I barely see them anymore; have not been back to the nest in 2 weeks. I wonder what they are up to.  Little Sis, Sky, will be all right.  Joe Buck is staying behind to help her.  It will be up to him whether she attempts the migration or winters here in Carteret County.  Please look out for her.

It is always so hard to leave.  Memories, memories, memories.  I will miss the lighthouse and the Harker’s Island Bridge, and of course your giant nest.  I will miss the female H. Sapian too. She has been wonderful this year.  I love her too; family, you know what I mean?  My heart is aching, but you know, you know, you know.  I will be back next year.  Try not to cry.

Love,

 Harriett.
