Bald Eagles are year-round resIdents here and often usurp the osprey nests when empty. There are many spectacular aerial fights when the ospreys return.
All right! I can’t wait. Last year, my Shark River, NJ osprey were late. So, when I was picking up food from a drive-thru place I heard an osprey call I was so happy the person at the pick-up window wanted to know why I was suddenly jumping for joy. “There’s osprey here! Look, they’re carrying nest materials. I found another nest I didn’t know about in a nearby town.” I’m looking forward to the continuing story of Harriet. Grateful I found this. Thanks.

Yay! And no Bald Eagles to evict?
Actually, the bald Eagle showed up today but Harriett chased him off. She dive-bombed him twice and then he flew off.
